Do You “Think” Strategically?
“Power gravitates to the man who knows HOW” (quote from Orison Swett Marden, 1908). In his book, “Start With Why,” Simon Sinek takes the HOW a lot further. In fact, he says that many companies are very successful focusing on HOW and WHAT, but fail to inspire (internally and externally) because they are missing the true WHY.
In the book “The Work of Leaders – How Vision, Alignment & Execution Will Change the Way You Lead,” the authors cleverly put together all three of the needed components: Vision (Why); Alignment (How); and Execution (What). And through an on-line assessment, we can measure how each individual on a leadership team is doing in 18 best practices that underpin these three components of leadership.
This is a key starting point for strategic thinking, which then leads to effective strategic planning.
